    Homeshed Installation with Patio

    A client-supplied shed and patio installation revealed multiple site and structural issues. With smart problem-solving and custom fabrication, we delivered a high-quality build that met engineering standards.

    The Challenge

    Freedom Construction & Landscaping was engaged to install a 10m x 4.2m x 5m Gable Homeshed with an adjoining patio, supplied by the client. Upon arrival, the team encountered several critical site challenges. The concrete pad was not square, undersized and featured a step-down between the patio and shed section—deviating from the engineering plan provided by the client’s previous contractor. A shed part was missing and the surrounding ground was too soft to support forklifts or scissor lifts, delaying installation. Further access restrictions complicated material handling and manoeuvring of longer components. The structural columns were too short due to the incorrect concrete step-down and factory-drilled holes in the frame were misaligned.

    The Solution

    We took a systematic, problem-solving approach to rectify every site complication without compromising the build quality. A supplementary concrete pad was installed to square the shed footprint and meet engineering specifications. New columns were ordered and customised to suit the altered slab dimensions. Earthworks were performed, including the supply and compaction of limestone fines to stabilise the site and allow safe machinery access. The missing shed component was promptly reordered. Additional manpower was brought in to manually transport oversized materials across restricted access zones. Misaligned frame holes were carefully redrilled for precise structural integrity.

    The Result

    The homeshed and patio were successfully installed to specification despite significant inherited complications. Through skilled site modification, fabrication expertise and adaptive logistics, we delivered a clean, structurally sound result aligned with engineering requirements. The client was highly satisfied with the final outcome and the professionalism displayed throughout the process. This project exemplified our ability to solve unforeseen site problems with hands-on management and multi-trade capabilities.
